Dancing on The Bridge
Saturday - September 11
2010 - The 7th annual celebration, will be held from noon to 11:00 p.m.
Fun and educational activities for children. Kids are urged to visit the Children’s area adjacent to the Malvern Fire Department for games, arts, crafts, face painting, the Balloon Man, prizes, cookies and other surprises.

A handful of our 7th and 8th grade students participated in a math tournament hosted by our East Central Ohio Educational Service Center at Kent State-Tusc on Wednesday, May 19th. The students competed against other area schools in six different math disciplines. All the students had enjoyable time with 13 returning to Malvern with awards.

On Wednesday, May 19th, the Show Choir will be performing at both Carroll Healthcare Center and Great Trail Care Center. The students will also spend some time visiting with residents and delivering cards they made.

The 7th graders had an enjoyable time on their recent field trip. The trip started at the William McKinley Presidential Library & Museum where they toured Discover World and experienced the Hoover-Price Planetarium. They concluded their visit with a picnic on the museum grounds before heading to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Before touring the Hall of Fame the students learned how each NFL team was named. Many of our pro teams have historical or regional meanings associated with their name.

SENIORS – The members of the clergy here in Malvern come together every year before graduation for a ceremony honoring our seniors and the upcoming graduation – this event is Sunday, May 23rd at 7:30 pm to be held at the First Christian Church of Malvern. It is called a Baccalaureate Service – All seniors and friends and family and community are invited.

For any girl that will be in 7th - 12th grade next year and is interested in playing volleyball, there will be a mandatory volleyball meeting at 4:00 on Monday May 10, 2010 in Coach Sampsels class room. Pre-school students were invited down to learn about the effects of an oil spill on animals and the magic of science. They have also built a doll house and bridges (studying the laws of physics) and donated these items to the preschool classroom.

Emily Wolfe, eighth grader, received second place for one of her writings entitled "Trapped" at the regional Power of the Pen tournament Saturday, March 6, at KSU Stark. There were 175 writers at the tournament.

We are having our annual Blood Drive on March 11th from 1-7 pm in room 126. If you are interested in donating blood please see me or email Mrs. Jones for times to sign up. The Red Cross is in desperate need for blood due to all of the snow, which in turn required many blood drive cancellations. The blood does stay local to NE Ohio. For every 25 pints of blood collected the Red Cross will issue a $500 scholarship for our students. Please help support this if you can.

A reminder that the Senior/Honor field trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame is tomorrow (Thursday, 2/18). Students are to dress up. We will leave the school at 8:30a.m., and return by 2:00p.m. $5 will be provided to each student for lunch at McDonald's on the way home.

Congratulations to the winners of our annual holiday food drive. 3rd grade brought in 411 items, making them the class winners. 2nd place went to 2nd grade with 337 items. 3rd place went to 1st grade with 283 items. 4th place was Kindergarten with 273 items. 5th place went to 4th grade with 136 items. 5th grade brought in 102 items and our preschool and headstart 11 items.
