Emily Wolfe, eighth grader, received second place for one of her writings entitled "Trapped" at the regional Power of the Pen tournament Saturday, March 6, at KSU Stark. There were 175 writers at the tournament.

We are having our annual Blood Drive on March 11th from 1-7 pm in room 126. If you are interested in donating blood please see me or email Mrs. Jones for times to sign up. The Red Cross is in desperate need for blood due to all of the snow, which in turn required many blood drive cancellations. The blood does stay local to NE Ohio. For every 25 pints of blood collected the Red Cross will issue a $500 scholarship for our students. Please help support this if you can.

A reminder that the Senior/Honor field trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame is tomorrow (Thursday, 2/18). Students are to dress up. We will leave the school at 8:30a.m., and return by 2:00p.m. $5 will be provided to each student for lunch at McDonald's on the way home.

Our Girls Varsity Basketball Team will play Steubenville Central Catholic at Claymont High School next Wednesday, Feb. 17th at 7:30pm during the first round of our Sectional Tournament. To purchase a pre-sale ticket, please see Denise in our Athletics Office. Tickets are $6.00.

Congratulations to three of the middle school Power of the Pen writers who qualified for the regional tournament: 8th graders Emily Wolfe and Gina Rosta and 7th grader Emily Kaufman. They will compete Saturday, March 6, at KSU Stark for a chance to qualify for the state tournament.

Congratulations to the winners of our annual holiday food drive. 3rd grade brought in 411 items, making them the class winners. 2nd place went to 2nd grade with 337 items. 3rd place went to 1st grade with 283 items. 4th place was Kindergarten with 273 items. 5th place went to 4th grade with 136 items. 5th grade brought in 102 items and our preschool and headstart 11 items. Our food drive raised 1,218 pounds of food. Thank you so much to everyone who donated in order to make others' holidays better!!12/03/2009 - 10:03am -
